Properties and characteristics of COAL

According to IMSBC Code, properties and characteristics of coal is in following:

煤的特徵與特性，依據<IMSBC Code>記載:




(1) Coals may emit methane, a flammable gas. A methane/air mixture containing between 5% and 16% methane constitutes an explosive atmosphere which can be ignited by sparks or naked flame.

煤可能散發含有5%至16%甲烷的甲烷/空氣混合物，並構成一種爆炸性的氣體。


(2) Coals may be subject to oxidation, leading to depletion of oxygen and an increase in carbon dioxide or carbon monoxide concentrations in the cargo space.

煤可能易於氧化，導致貨物堆積處缺氧或一氧化碳濃度增加。


(3) Some coals may heat spontaneously and the spontaneous heating may lead to spontaneous combustion in the cargo space. Flammable and toxic gases, including carbon monoxide, may be produced.

有些煤可能會自熱，而導致貨艙內自燃。也有可能產生易燃有毒氣體(一氧化碳)。


(4) Some coals may be liable to react with water and produce acids which may cause corrosion. 

有些煤可能易與水發生反應，且產生可能引起腐蝕性的酸。
